Now available through Dr. Chen's office are extraordinary effective skin care programs that offer all skin types a healthier, more youthful complexion.
Obagi® Nu-Derm Skin Care Program
The Obagi® Nu-Derm Program is a skin care program designed to restore the health of the skin.
It was created and developed to deliver medically proven result through the use of a skin care
regimen available only through specially trained medical offices like ours.
Obagi® Nu-Derm is the only creative cream program designed for overall skin tranformation. This concept is so revolutionary that it requires us to use the term "skin health" instead of "skin care." The program emphasizes the unique concepts of correction and stimulation of the skin, which lead to regulating and strengthening of skin functions to produce collagen, elastin, and healthier skin cells. This leads to smooth, firm skin, with even color tone for a younger and healthier looking skin.
The program was initially developed and created by Dr. Zein Obagi, an internationally known and respected board certified dermatologist. Each product has been formulated to work in conjunction with the others for each patient's individual regimen…to insure effective and harmonious results. It is designed to provide a tighter, smoother, healthier, younger looking skin, regardless of age, color or skin type. Some of the basic principles behind the Obagi® Nu-Derm system include enhancing, correction, stimulation, moisturizing, prevention of sun damage and maintenance once the correction is obtained.
The Obagi® Nu-Derm Program is specifically designed to correct pre-cancerous lesions, uneven pigmentation, unsightly blemishes, sun damaged skin, some fine wrinkles, photo-aged skin, age spots, acne and large pores. It can be used to treat skin problems on most areas of the body such as face, hands, neck, back arms, and legs. The regimen would differ depending upon the area being treated.
Our friendly and courteous staff would be happy to give you more information and set up a consultation to discuss your skin's health.
Obagi-C Rx System
The Obagi-C Rx System delivers Photolumines Skin. It regulates the production of melanin producing cells making the skin radiant, enhances collagen production which can make skin smoother and reduce fine lines and wrinkles, minimizes skin cell damage from the environment by protecting it from free radicals and corrects and restores balance to lack-luster skin and dark patches caused by sun damage.
The Obagi-C Rx System is the only system of its kind. The Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) has substantial benefits in preventing the skin's aging process that is often caused by sunlight, smoking and other environmental contaminants.

BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow's feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® injections block nerve impulses, weakening muscles to relax wrinkles and give the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms.
Restylane®
Restylane® is designed to smooth wrinkles, sculpt lips and shape facial contours. It is a clear, synthetic gel made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found throughout your body. It carries little risk of allergic reaction. The most common areas for treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane remains in your skin for many months.
Chemical Peel
Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. Peel formulas and strengths are tailored to each patient and range from AHA peels designed for milder skin conditions and acne treatments, to deeper TCA peels such as the Obagi® Blue Peel. Peels can be combined with other procedures such as facelifts for a younger look.

Radiesse™
Radiesse™ is a new injectable long lasting product for soft tissue augmentation, made of injectable calcium hydroxylapatite. It has been used to augment the lips, radial lip lines, nasolabial folds, corner of mouth, marionette lines, glabellar creases, acne scars, contour irrgularities, small soft tissue defects, chin and cheek augmentation, and areas of facial atrophy. Their parent company, Bioform, Inc.) is working with the FDA for approval for these indicators. It is currently FDA approved for vocal cord injections, tissue marker and periodontal only graft.
Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion removes a layer of surface skin to improve the appearance of facial scarring due to acne, chicken pox, injury or other causes, as well as uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, sun damage, tattoos, age spots and certain kinds of skin lesions. The skin is frozen, typically with a spray, and then abraded with a high-speed rotary instrument for a dramatically smoother, fresher look. After the procedure it is normal to feel a sensation similar to sunburn for a week or so, at which time most patients are able to return to work. The newly revealed skin will likely appear pinker than usual for two to three months. Patients should be sure to adequately protect skin from sunlight.
Acne Treatment
Acne is the term for the blocked pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that can appear typically on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. Seventeen million Americans currently have acne, making it the most common skin disease in the country. While it affects mostly teenagers, and almost all teenagers have some form of acne, adults of any age can have it. Acne is not life-threatening, but it can cause physical disfigurement (scarring) and emotional distress.
Treatment for acne varies depending on the type and severity of lesions, skin type and the patient's age and lifestyle, but on average results are visible in six to eight weeks. Options include:
- Chemical Peel
- PhotoFacial (intensive pulse light treatment)
- Levulan®
- Soft tissue fillers and fat transfer
- Punch excisional surgery for deep "ice-pick" pitted scarring
- Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion
- Topical and oral agents
For deep scars, see "Face" section depression
Laser/Light Treatment
These light frequency specific (Laser) or intensive pulse light (IPL) treatments are tailored specifically to meet best result for capillaries/veins on face/legs, tattoos, hair reduction, pigmentation or wrinkles. One or more treatments may be needed for best results.
Skin texture quality will improve with 3-5 session with our new painless IPL treatment.
Spider and Varicose Veins
Spider veins are visible red or blue blood vessels that spread like a web across the skin, commonly on the face and legs. They are not usually harmful but they can be painful.
Varicose veins can indicate poor vascular health if the swelling is caused by phlebitis (inflamed tender vein), thrombosis (clot), or venous stasis ulcers (open sores).
It is not entirely known what causes spider and varicose veins, although likely factors are heredity, pregnancy and hormones. Women are more likely than men to develop problems -- more than 20 percent of women suffer from mild to severe varicose veins.
The standard treatment for spider and varicose veins is sclerotherapy. A special solution into the blood vessel, which then collapses and is absorbed by the body. Alternative treatments include laser or intense pulsed light therapy, surgical stripping and ambulatory phlebectomy.
Laser treatments can reduce the appearance of sun damage, acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, vascular lesions (spider veins and redness on the face) and uneven pigmentation.
Hair Transplant
Customized treatment plans for individual patients using the latest techniques and technology make it possible to succesfully compensate for thinning hair or baldness. During a hair transplant, thin strips of skin containing hair are taken from the back of the scalp and placed in tiny holes in the bald or thinned area. The grafted hair falls out after the procedure but then grows back and should last as long as the hair from the area in which it was taken.
